Within my job role I come across many barriers to communication, anything that stops an individual being able to communicate is a barrier. When I am communicating with an individual I ensure that my body language and facial expressions are clear and that I speak slowly and clearly and check that they have understood what I have said to them. If they have not understood I will repeat what I have communicated. When I ask a question I ensure that I give the individual time to process the question and allow them to answer in their own time. I also ensure that I use the individuals preferred method of communication and use any aids or equipment that they require to be able to understand me.
