People from poverty positively impact society by accepting jobs that others would otherwise not want. Poverty functions as a reason for people to accept dirty jobs, dangerous jobs, and underpaid jobs as a means for income. These jobs are important to the function of society, and people from poverty are willing to take on these roles. Poverty also functions as a business for some in the middle-class. Businesses such as pawnshops, thrift stores, cash stores are geared towards families and individuals living in poverty.( Poverty also serves as a function for others to serve in charity and philanthropic capacities. Churches are pressed to care for the poor, the widowed, and the orphans. By taking care of others, this creates a positive impact for everyone involved. As a Christian, I am led to lead a life of generous hospitality, and serving the poor is one way to display good works through faith.
