In the 1914

When the World War I began America tried to stay out of the war and isolated. On August

4th, 1914, Wilson officially announced that America would be neutral in World War One.

He adopted neutrality because he wanted America to trade with the both sides but British

Blockading of German coastline made impossible to trade with Germany. Then Germany

started producing U-boats and started taking out ships. In March 1916, a German U-boat
torpedoed a French passenger ship, the Sussex, killing dozens of people, including several
Americans. Afterward, the U.S. threatened to cut diplomatic ties with and Germany
Pledged for that incident.
